Here’s a quick guide to what to plant this season and how to make the most of our bestsellers.

Crocus Speciosus: A Burst of Early Autumn Colour

Plant between September and November

If you want to bring a touch of vibrant colour to your autumn garden, Crocus Speciosus is an excellent choice. These crocuses flower in late autumn, showcasing beautiful violet-blue blooms that will brighten up your beds. Plant them in well-drained soil and a sunny spot, about 4 inches deep, and space them 2-3 inches apart. You’ll enjoy their stunning display year after year, as these hardy bulbs naturalise well.

Snowdrops (Galanthus): The First Sign of Spring

Plant between September and November

One of the earliest flowers to emerge after winter, Snowdrops are perfect for bringing life to your garden when little else is in bloom. Snowdrops thrive best in moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. Plant bulbs around 3 inches deep and 3 inches apart. Over time, these delicate white blooms will multiply and create beautiful carpets of flowers, signalling the end of winter.

Anemone De Caen Corms: A Bold Spring Bloomer

Plant between October and December

For an explosion of colour in late spring to early summer, Anemone De Caen is a must-have. These stunning flowers come in shades of red, pink, purple, and white. To plant, soak the corms overnight in water, then place them 2-3 inches deep in well-drained soil, spaced 6-8 inches apart. They’ll thrive in full sun or partial shade, making them a versatile addition to borders or containers.

Purple Sprouting Broccoli: A Winter Superfood BEST SELLER!

Plant between July and November

For fresh, homegrown vegetables throughout winter and early spring, try our Purple Sprouting Broccoli. This hardy plant can withstand the cold and will reward you with tender shoots starting in February. Plant the young plants in fertile soil with good drainage, spacing them 18 inches apart. Make sure they receive plenty of sunlight and regular watering to ensure a healthy crop. For a winter garden that's not only beautiful but also delicious, this is an essential choice.

Our Cornish Shovel: A Gardener’s Best Friend

Whether you’re planting bulbs or working with larger vegetables, the Cornish Shovel will become your go-to tool. Designed with a long wooden handle, it allows you to work without straining your back, keeping you upright as you dig. Made by Tarka, this shovel combines traditional craftsmanship with ergonomic design, making it the tool of choice here in Cornwall.

Elephant Garlic: Giant Cloves, Giant Flavor

Plant between September and December

Although technically a type of leek, Elephant Garlic grows similarly to regular garlic but produces much larger cloves with a milder, sweeter flavour. Plant the bulbs 6 inches apart and about 4 inches deep in fertile, well-drained soil. Ensure they’re in a sunny location, and by summer, you’ll have large bulbs ready to harvest. If you’re after a more delicate garlic taste in your cooking, Elephant Garlic is perfect for roasting or adding to recipes.

Picardy Wight Garlic: Robust and Reliable

Plant between September and December

Picardy Wight Garlic is known for its excellent flavour and long storage life. Plant the bulbs in autumn for a summer harvest next year. Choose a sunny, well-drained spot in your garden and plant the cloves 6 inches apart and about 2 inches deep. This variety produces large, flavorful cloves, making it a favourite among home gardeners and cooks alike.
